The old Dominican church in Maastricht was beingused for bicycle storage not long ago, but thanks to a radicalrefurbishment by Dutch architects Merkx·Girod it has been turned intowhat could possibly be the most beautiful bookshop of all time。

The Boekhandel Selexyz Dominicanen, which opened justbefore Christmas, retains the character and charm of the old church,while being fitted with a minimalist and modern interior design thatovercomes any suggestion of fustiness. From the images you can find onthe web you can see that it is a bookshop made in heaven.
书店2007年圣诞节前刚刚开张。吉罗德尽量保留原有建筑风貌,只在内部装饰上作了些许变动,添加了一些现代元素,令整座教堂焕然一新。在一排排书架间穿行,头顶上方是高大、美丽的教堂穹顶,难怪有人把这里称为“天堂书店”。
